Father Roger was born on January 30th 1965 in Warsaw, Poland, the youngest of three children. He grew up dreaming of being an astronaut or an engineer, but when he turned 18 he realized God was calling him to serve Him in ordained ministry, even though the Communist government at that time had him slated to become an auto mechanic.
After completing the Metropolitan Seminary in Warsaw (1984-1990) Father Roger received a master’s degree in New Testament and was ordained on May 24th 1990. For the next six years he worked in three different parishes near Warsaw as associate pastor and teacher at public schools. During that time he requested from his bishop a transfer to the USA, and was granted permission in 1996. Since then he has served two parishes in Archdiocese of Chicago (St. Richard’s in Chicago and St. Ann’s in Lansing, IL 1996-1999) and then moved to Diocese of Joliet.
In Fathers’ first Joliet Diocese parish, St. Liborious in Steger (2000-2004), he completed his incardination process (acceptance as diocesan priest), and was appointed associate pastor at St. Mary’s in Mokena where he served for two years. In 2005 he also received his U.S. Citizenship. Ministerial needs of the diocese sent him to his first pastorate at Slovenian Church of St. Joseph, in 2006, where he worked for 6 years. The bishop then gave him a second assignment as pastor of two parishes: St. Paul’s in Peotone and St. Patrick’s in Wilton Center.
On June 22nd, 2016 the bishop relieved Father Roger from his duties at St. Patrick’s and was assigned pastor of St. Boniface. We now share him with St. Paul’s in Peotone.
